I have continued my “page a day ” through sun ,rain ,birthdays …..

Paintings have got bigger and I have been through the process of revisiting ,

repainting ,re thinking ,so producing new thoughts through new images.

Reminding myself that the work is not just about paint on canvas ,but hours of

I have spent five wonderful weeks in France ,we have been camping in our “getting old ” Mazda Bongo van .Weather ,colour ,birds ,butterflies, gentle skies and time to think . My ‘Page a day’ challenge is going well ,drawing ,painting and writing keep me busy thinking through ideas or recording what I have seen .I have been juggling words about loneliness,being alone ,solitude and rejection ,with a painting or two in mind ,so many questions still! It is interesting how thought processes evolve and then work together to produce an image /emotion/narrative .

Another month of painting challenges .Starting new work ,remembering to do a page

I have continued my floral thoughts ! The girl in red is called “Talk to the Wallpaper”

(well it made me smile) . “The Dress” and “The Shawl” hang rather crookedly

in the studio and ” Cold Shouldered” is on her own .

Painting these has been a challenge as I wanted lots of colour and pattern without

crowding the space and edging the figure out too much .

I have been looking at Matisse and the Bloomsbury group and remembering a previous painting of mine called “Bride with Anemones”Kay

Yesterday I returned to Shave studio at last ! The challenge of the book continues ,but

I have started two new paintings overcome by floral patterns .It must be the promise of Spring at last .

my Page a day is developing in to a mixture of genre .Abstract ,landscapes ,as well as faces of course . I am finding the book is conjuring up ideas and images ,also introducing me to artists new to me ,like Joan Mitchell,an abstract expressionist .we saw her work in The Abstract Expressionist exhibition at RA .Enjoy ,Kay
